What’s Next? The Ancient Paths Scripture Reference: Jeremiah 6:16 Pr Chris Kam 21/22 Nov 2020 ============================= (Jeremiah 6:16) This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” Big Idea – Acting on a right decision at a crossroad will lead to a place of rest. STOP and LOOK, ASK then WALK #1. STOP & LOOK - The _____________ Path – “Stand at the crossroads and look ... “ (1 Samuel 15:22) “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (Mark 12:33) To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” #2. ASK – The _____________ Paths – “…ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is…” (Psalm 119:89) Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. #3. WALK – The _____________ Path – “and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 33:3) ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ (Hebrews 2:1) We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
