Paradoxes of Scripture

* It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)
* Give and it will be given to you. (Luke 6:38)
* Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. (John 12:25)
* Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. (Matt 10:39)
* I no longer live, but Christ lives in me (Gal 2:20)
* First will be last and last will be first (Matt 19:30)
* In the world but not of the world (John 17:14-16)
* To save our lives, we must lose it. (Luke17:33)
* To be wise, we must become fools (1 Cor 3:18)
* To reign, we must serve (Matt 25:21 – Well done good and faithful servant)

1. What is the most significant thing the Holy Spirit spoke to you about through this sermon?

2. Pick three paradoxes of Scripture and explain what they mean. What do you think this phrase means: “It’s not about me, but it is also about me”? Try explaining it in the light of the sermon (It’s not about me) from the previous week.
