Story of Salvation – Rebellion, Repentance, Redemption 1. REBELLION # Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17) Psalm 119:11 (NIV) I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 2. REPENTANCE a. Acknowledgment of our _________________ - Cry out for help # 1 From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. 2 He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry. (Jonah 2:1-2) b. Application Questions ===================== 1. What do you think Jonah was feeling and thinking of while in the belly of the big fish? Read through Jonah 2 and try to put yourself in his shoes. What was he praying about? 2. Have you ever felt like Jonah – far from God, enmeshed in a situation beyond your control? How then was your life brought “up from the pit”? 3. In what ways has the book of Jonah changed the way you think about God in view of the big idea in the sermon: “God is not finished with me yet”? 4. In what ways is God speaking to you through this book in the area of IMPACT2020 involvement?
